Mariana Karkoutly
MA Student in Social Sciences
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Since Mariana Karkoutly moved to Germany, she knew human rights would become not only a passion but a career. During her Master studies at Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin she has created a project that is concerned with Self-help for refugees with psychological and mental issues with a special focus on trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder manifesting itself after war. She continued her Master studies in the field of Social Sciences within the scope of the GeT MA Berlin Track programme at Humboldt Universität-zu Berlin. This has motivated her to understand the effect of politics on laws and vice versa. Her bachelor’s in law was enriched with this experience and Mariana continues participating in legal trainings that are focusing on fighting human rights violations that are related to war crimes and crimes against humanity in Syria.
